"Writing on the back of a digital photo"

Folks are pretty familiar about writing on the back of photo prints. But what do you do with your digital photos?

That's where tagging comes in.  A form of metadata, that resides "inside" of your digital photos. This information travels with your photo so that when you move it to another device, share it, or import it into another program, the data travels with the photo.

Tagging, is the process of assigning words to your photos that describe the photo. Once your photos are tagged, PLNAR can group all related images together saving you lots of sorting time. The beauty about tagging is that you can say as much or as little about your photos as you like.

TO TAG OR NOT TO TAG? THAT IS THE QUESTION

Many people, especially photographers, love to tag every photo with searchable keyboards. It's a great idea, especially if you have a lot of photos that are scattered in various places across your devices.

Personally, though, I use tags selectively, especially when using PLNAR. PLNAR already does a fantastic job grouping and labeling your photos, so your tags should be call out areas of interest or particular attributes. Say for instance your upstairs bathroom has a leak and your doing a big renovation. After documenting your space, you may take a few specific photos of any damage that occurred as a result of the leak for your contractor or insurance specialist. You can use tags such as Damage, Water Leak, to help the reviewer quickly identify its presence.

HOW TO TAG ( USING APP )

Once you've taken or added photos to your PLNAR project, you can navigate to the photos tab and click a photo to bring up the photo carousel.

From here, you can quickly tag your photo for damage using the check box, edit photo details, or tap the "+" to add additional tags.

Once "+" is tapped, the add tag window will appear. You can choose from the pre-defined list or create your own.

HOW TO TAG ( USING PORTAL )

Once your photos are uploaded to the portal, you can add new or additional tags and descriptions to your project photo set using the tag & describe interface.

Simply multi-select the photos you wish to edit.

Once selected, navigate to the lower right-hand corner and click the *** icon to open additional options.

Click "Add Tags | Description" to bring up the tag & describe overlay.

Optionally, select tags, add location data, and create a description. Your additions will be added to the photo metadata as shown below:

There you have it. Easy-peasy :)
